The Medical Transcriptionist transcribes medical reports recorded by physicians and other healthcare practitioners using various electronic devices, covering office visits, emergency room visits, diagnostic imaging studies, clinical procedures, chart reviews, and final summaries. Transcribes dictated reports and translates abbreviations into fully understandable form. Edits as necessary and returns reports in electronic form for review and signature, or correction.

Job Qualifications:

Education (For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.)
Required Education: High school degree or equivalent
Preferred Education: Graduate of a Medical Transcribing Program. Successful completion of Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology courses.
Experience
Minimum Experience Required: Demonstrated ability to type 60 words per minute (wpm) corrected. Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology.
Preferred/Optional Experience: 2 years’ experience as a medical transcriptionist.

Certifications/Licenses
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position, which must be maintained in good standing:
Preferred/Optional: Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) provided by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI)
