    Summary

    This National Guard position is for a ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – Title 32, Position Description Number D143500/D0325000 and is part of the WI 115 MXS, Madison, Wisconsin Air National Guard.

    Responsibilities

    ***Indefinite positions are not permanent and have no guarantee to continued employment. Indefinite employees may be subject to separation from employment at any time with a 30 day written notification. If the position becomes permanent, employee may be converted to a permanent appointment without further competition at management’s discretion.***

    As a ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – Title 32, WG-6641-6/10, you will perform but not limited to:
    Missile Maintenance: Maintain and repairs assigned missiles. Conducts operational tests using special purpose test equipment and precision measurement devices. Analyzes varying forms of data from different sources of test equipment and isolates system component malfunctions by visual observation or use of electronic, pneumatic, and pneudraulic test equipment. Interprets wiring diagrams, evaluates and analyzes equipment specifications and other technical documents. Munitions Storage: Receives, assembles, issues, identifies, inspects and stores conventional aerospace munitions such as bombs, ammunition, starter cartridges, flares, egress munitions, etc. Unpacks, identifies, sorts, and judges the physical condition of received munitions. Compares the material identification markings and obvious physical characteristics against shipping documents. Missile Test Equipment: Operates, repairs, maintains and calibrates missile test equipment. Performs system analysis of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and pneudraulic test equipment under actual or simulated conditions to determine operational status. Conducts a variety of tests to troubleshoot and isolate malfunctions. Accomplishes alignment, repair, overhaul modification and calibration of assemblies and subassemblies of equipment such as osciliscopes, frequency signal genrators, frequency counters, milliwatt potentiometers and other assigned measuring equipment used in troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating of test and checkout equipment.

    MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

    Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state’s National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.

    Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC: 2W0X1

    Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
    National Guard Membership is required.
    Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
    Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
    May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

    Qualifications

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which has provided the candidate with the knowledge and application of mechanical and electrical principles and the skill to perform intricate repair and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic components and devices.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    WG-6641-06: Must have at least 9 months experience or training servicing and adjusting equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, assembling, and disassembling parts. Experience which has demonstrated the ability to identify and locate troubles by sight. Experience in the use of common hand tools. Experience showing the ability to follow written instruction.

    WG-6641-10: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing a variety of major subassemblies. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components. Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment.

    Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.
