Two or more years related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience). Additional Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory protocols and abilities in laboratory techniques are required. Experience with applicable computer technologies, including specific software applications, is required. Appropriate communications skills required. Ability to work well with others and to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary research team is essential. Good written and communication skills are a must. The candidate would be highly motivated, detail oriented, organized, and able to take initiative. Experience with computer-aided design tools such as SolidWorks and EagleCAD. Software development knowledge with C++, Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and web-based languages (PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).Additional Information:This position is grant-funded through May 31, 2019 with the possibility of renewal. Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.Department:Wyss InstitutePre-Employment Screening:Criminal, IdentitySchedule:Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pmJob Function:Research Duties & Responsibilities:The Engineering Research Assistant (RA) will report to Principal Investigator (Kit Parker) of the Disease Biophysics Group and will be subject to periodic reviews. The RA will work on a variety of projects in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary laboratory, which includes a focus on prototype machining and microelectromechanical systems device development. Specifically, the RA will be responsible for: Developing prototype scientific instrumentsElectrical circuit design, and assembly/repairMechanical systems assembly/repairWriting data acquisition and processing softwareLight fabrication work and materials processing/selectionComplex 3D design and printingThe RA may also be expected to:Organize and maintain structure of the lab by managing day to day activities Oversee the operations and maintenance of essential equipment Act as the primary resource for purchasing general laboratory suppliesServe as a laboratory emergency contact enforcing compliance with safety and lab procedures among all lab personnelOrient and train all personnel on lab safety, conduct and standardsAttend and participate in laboratory meetingsAdditional Qualifications: Ability to work well with others and to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary research team is essential.
