The position serves as an Information Technology Mainframe System Programmer in the United States Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Office of Information and Security Services – Infrastructure Operations (ISS-IO), Operating Systems and Storage Division (OSSD), Mainframe Branch (MB) with the primary responsibility to provide 24x7x365 technical support for the multiple interconnected IT systems and services that comprise the Fiscal Service enterprise Mainframe System General Support System (FIT-MF GSS). The FIT-MF GSS consists of multiple operating systems, multiple security programs, multiple networking components, multiple storage platforms, and multiple database and transaction systems that all run on or interface with the FIT-MF GSS. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide 24x7x365 technical support for all systems and services to support the Fiscal Service enterprise Mainframe General Support System (FIT MF GSS). The FIT MF GSS includes multiple Operating Systems, Third Party Software, and Middleware System infrastructures that host government-wide data. Mainframe Middleware Systems include technologies such as DB2, Datacom, IDMS, IBI, and IMS database systems; the CICS and IMS mainframe transaction systems; and the IBM MQ mainframe messaging system. This position can be filled from either location, Parkersburg, WV or Kansas City, MO. Learn more about this agency ### Responsibilities As an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/OS), you will: * Provide 24x7x365 technical support for all systems and services to support the FIT MF GSS which includes multiple Operating Systems, Third Party Software, and Middleware System infrastructures that host government-wide data. Mainframe Middleware Systems include technologies such as DB2, Datacom, IDMS, IBI, and IMS database systems; the CICS and IMS mainframe transaction systems; and the IBM MQ mainframe messaging system that communicates with other federal agencies. * Serve as a subject matter expert on one of the following teams and technology areas: z/OS, z/VM-zLinux-Third Party Software, or Middleware Systems collectively referred to in the rest of this announcement as “enterprise Mainframe System”. * Perform the installation, testing, maintenance, and upgrading of equipment and software supporting the enterprise Mainframe System service Expertly apply new enterprise Mainframe System developments to ensure that the design, development, and management of the enterprise Mainframe System meet current and future business requirements. * Perform incident and problem management associated with the enterprise Mainframe System infrastructure hosted within Fiscal Service data centers and secure areas.
