Phillips Group - Strike Security
« on: April 23, 2008, 09:12:46 AM »
Hey Guys and Gals, haven\'t been on the site for over a year now.  Feel like I should re-introduce myself.  This week, I was contacted by the Phillips Group (or \"JR Phillips) for their Pennsylvania gig and supposed to leave on Friday.  Unarmed \"tactical\" strike security.  Don\'t have any info on the company and can\'t find anything on here or on Google.  Anybody have any info on the Phillips Group?  Already know it\'s not great pay, but just looking for other info.  Oldgoat, sent you a PM about your post about this group.

8 dollars an hour, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.  I think the per diem is all the way up to 35 bucks a day.

This is truly the bottom of the low rent district in security work. Seriuosly. If there is nothing else at all you have to do, then by all means, do it. I guess it beats a blank.

Br forewarned...y ou will stay in the lowest priced roach hotel available.

I have not personally done this, but I know a few that have.

Old soldier, thanks.  I don\'t have anything else going right now but don\'t feel like leaving for over a month for low rent work that doesn\'t even pay as much as they tell you.  I wonder about a company that just hires you after seeing a resume and doesn\'t do any background checks or anything.  That seems a little weird to me.  Over the phone they actually said they were impressed because I was somewhat articulate and they weren\'t used to that in their applicants.  Makes me wonder who else they\'re hiring for these gigs.

8 dollars an hours, 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week and 25 perdiem. Sounds like the stateside equivalent of DC in Qatar. although not the lowest end of the spectrum in the security industry it sounds like the low end in this niche (strike security). Strikes can get violent as all get out, you are not armed, they are. You have a two man team on a access point, they have 20 bad guys. Things can get interesting in a hurry, especially if your working in Detroit, NY, Pittsburgh, NJ, and PA.

Terreo, they are hiring anyone with any tenuous security background. you could be sitting next to a very squared away person (rare) or next to a homeless gangbanger. If you go have a extraction plan. And be prepared for massive confusion.

TeeRoy,
Thanks for the insight.  Just looking to get my foot in the door with a semi-quasi-decent security gig.  Need money, but not bad enough to get mixed up in a labor dispute brawl, 400 deep, unarmed, wearing a \"security\" polo and a plastic shield, side to side with \"unknowns\" who probably have no real military or LEO experience.  Scary stuff.

Well if you\'re really considering this aspect of security check in to Vance International\'s Asset Protection Team (my alma mater for 8yrs) Special Response Corporation (SRC), JR Gettier & Associates, and SecureCorp (they are in Woodbridge Va. not to be confused with another company with similar name). Given the nature of this particular aspect of the industry it is not uncommon for the same guys to be online with an number of different outfits. This equals more potential work Out of those listed APT is probably the most squared away (if there is such a thing) as they have an actual vetting and training process. The other three are a wash as they each have their own unique positives and negatives.

Hey there, are you looking for a full time gig or just something on and off....if you\'re wanting good pay and don\'t mind relocating, I work for a good company for GREAT pay as far as CONUS work goes.  If you\'re interested I\'ll tell you more about them.
